The UAE's Ministry of Economy has announced a temporary suspension of the export and re-export of rice for a period of four months, starting July 28.

The decision includes banning the export and re-export of rice that had been imported from India after July 20, 2023, and this applies to all rice varieties, including peeled rice, brown rice, fully or partially milled rice and broken rice.

The ministry said that companies looking to export or re-export these forms of rice must submit a request to obtain a permit, provided that it's supported by all documents that help verify the data related to the shipment and its origin.

It added that the permit to export rice products would be valid for 30 days and must be submitted to customs authorities, in order to complete procedures.

Requests can submitted online through antidumping@economy.ae or directly at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy.
