Authorities in the UAE confirmed that no deaths or serious injuries were recorded in this week's adverse weather.

Over 870 stranded people have been rescued so far and 3,897 provided with alternative shelter.

In a special media briefing on Wednesday, a government spokesperson said the Ministry of Community Development coordinated with more than 20 hotels to arrange temporary accommodation for those living in the affected areas.

Volunteers are also helping streamline the process of shifting families and arranging their transportation.

The authorities are working relentlessly to limit the impact of the adverse weather conditions.

Taher Al Ameri, official spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), said a proactive strategy is in place to take into account various scenarios.

He added that they are constantly monitoring the situation with disaster management and rescue teams on the ground 24/7.

The rainfall witnessed in the country was amongst the highest in nearly 30 years during the month of July.

A spokesperson from the UAE's National Centre of Meteorology said the adverse weather was caused by a bout of upper and surface air depression from northern India through southern Pakistan towards the UAE, which led to the formation of heavy rain clouds.

"The depression will continue to exist in the west of the country and will gradually weaken during the evening and night, with the continuation of chances of some convective rain clouds forming over some eastern and western regions of the country. In general, the situation has weakened since yesterday," he explained.

Brigadier Gen. Dr. Ali Salem Al Tunaiji, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, urged the public to adhere to the warnings and weather alerts sent out by the authorities.

He said the latest developments reflect the readiness levels of the UAE society and its entities to respond to crises and emergencies.
