Imperfect and deformed fruits and vegetables should be consumed and not rejected, a new campaign launched to reduce food wastage says. The Ministry of Environment and Water has joined hands with organic food company Blue Planet Green People to introduce the “I’mPerfect” drive, which aims to change people’s mindset about products that look different in size or colour. The campaign, which has been launched in celebration of World Food Day on October 16, wants to prove that imperfection in looks does not mean a product is lesser in quality of taste. It is estimated that around 4,000 farmers across the UAE will benefit from the drive.
