The Emergency, Crises and Disaster Management Centre in Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) has conducted a large-scale field exercise at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.

The drill, part of the 2025 Annual Joint Exercise Plan, was held in coordination with strategic partners and federal and local entities to test readiness for nuclear incident scenarios.

The exercise focused on crisis management, coordination and emergency response, involving 22 entities, 7 field teams and 20 operation centres.

A complex, realistic scenario was simulated to assess the plant’s internal and external response capabilities.

Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and the exercise lead, said the operation reflects the UAE’s commitment to international standards in nuclear safety and crisis management.

Matar Al Nuaimi, Director-General of ADCMC, called the exercise a strategic step in enhancing operational excellence and public confidence in emergency preparedness.

The Barakah Plant plays a key role in the UAE’s clean energy strategy, supporting sustainability and carbon reduction goals — and this latest exercise reinforces confidence in the systems designed to protect both people and infrastructure.
