At least 21 mobile clinics across Dubai and Sharjah are offering free breast cancer screening in eight locations.

The initiative is being undertaken by Pink Caravan to increase awareness about breast cancer and offer free mammogram screenings since "the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the challenges of late-stage diagnosis and lack of access to treatment," according to a statement.

According to the non-profit organisation, 222 individuals succumbed to the disease in the UAE in 2020.

Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UAE, with a total of 1,030 new cases diagnosed last year.
