Bereavement formalities in Dubai will be fast-tracked under a new system that will also offer mental health support to help children cope with the loss, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced on Monday.

Under the 'Jabr' system, a dedicated Government Service Officer will be assigned to each case, to coordinate with relevant entities for the paperwork on behalf of the family.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), in full coordination with the Dubai Academic Health Corporation, have also trained 230 school counsellors to help students who've lost a family member.

A unified digital platform has also been developed to notify relevant federal authorities as soon as a death is registered, enabling them to take necessary actions, including the issuance of the death certificate and completion of any payment and legal services.

'Jabr' will also expedite procedures for transporting and repatriation of the remains based on the family's decisions and reduce the time needed to complete burial and condolence-related services.

The system will see condolence tents at more than 70 locations, with an additional tent provided for Emirati families under the Community Development Authority, along with full hospitality services for the three-day condolence period.

Optional religious lectures for bereaved families are also provided by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department through qualified religious counsellors.

The 'Jabr' system reflects Dubai’s deep humanitarian ethos and takes into account the emotional needs of families during difficult times.
