Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has updated its light vehicle driver training curriculum to reflect the latest advances in modern car technology, particularly vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS.

The revised curriculum now includes training on features such as forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure alerts, parking assist systems, adaptive cruise control, ABS, and other smart safety technologies found in today’s vehicles.

Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Drivers Licensing at the RTA, said the updates aim to improve road safety, enhance driver behaviour and reduce traffic accidents by aligning training with internationally recognised standards.

The new programme has been developed in cooperation with driving institutes and integrated into both theoretical and practical training, as well as the official driver handbook.

Al Akraf added that more than 250,000 trainees have already benefited from the updated curriculum in recent years, with ongoing workshops held for driving schools across Dubai to ensure consistent and up-to-date instruction on modern driving systems.
