The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has issued a warning against scammers sending fake emails under the government department's name.
It has called on people not to respond to these emails and always double check the domain name of the email address.
The utilities provider has also urged customers to make their payments only through trusted channels.
The latest alert comes after some customers received fraudulent emails about bill payments, claiming to be from DEWA.
DEWA said it is taking the necessary action in coordination with the competent authorities.
