Fines of up to AED 50,000 have been issued to a number of people caught violating official COVID-19 guidelines.
According to the Spokesperson of Emergency and Crisis Prosecution, the violations included leaving home during curfew, not adhering to quarantine instructions and violating compulsory hospitalisation.
Legal action has been taken against people of various nationalities, with the fines ranging from AED 3,000 to AED 50,000.
The Public Prosecution has urged all UAE residents to adhere to the guidelines as government authorities continue their efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
