Beware of social media adverts for jobs or visas: Dubai Police reissues scam alert

Dubai Police have reminded the public to remain extra vigilant when dealing with employment contracts, work and residency visas on social media in exchange for money.

The Anti-Fraud Centre said scamsters lure victims by impersonating official entities or using names of unlicensed companies.

The warning comes as part of the Dubai Police's ‘Be Aware of Fraud’ awareness campaign.

The authority reminded residents to secure visa transactions for work, residency or tourism only through official government channels and legally licensed recruitment agencies.

They also stressed the need to verify the authenticity of any visa offers or procedures through official channels only.

It explained that awareness and verification are the first line of defence against fraud.

The public are urged to report any fraudulent activity through the Dubai Police smart app, eCrime platform, or by dialling 901.
