An air quality monitoring station has been established in Dubai's Jebel Ali area, coinciding with World Environment Day.

Built at a cost of nearly AED 2 million, the facility is equipped with 11 sensors capable of detecting 101 types of air pollutants.

The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in assessing the effects of industrial and logistical activities on air quality in the area.

Speaking on Dubai Eye 103.8's The Agenda, Moodhi Ali Rasheed, Senior Officer Environment, Public Health & Safety at Ports, Customs and Freezone Corporation, explained how the data will be constantly monitored.

It will help ensure compliance with UAE's air quality standards, identify harmful pollutants and enable preventive measures to protect the health of residents and workers in Jebel Ali and surrounding areas.

Advanced data collection and transmission systems link up the station to a specialised central office for data processing and report generation.
