Taxis in Abu Dhabi will start accepting cashless fare payments from customers from today.

According to the capital's Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), the new feature offers people convenience, security and a variety of payment options through PayBy.

The app allows passengers to top up their accounts online or at designated kiosks.

Upon arriving at a destination, people will be asked to scan a QR code displayed on the taxi's meter screen.

Customers can confirm the transaction by entering their password or through face recognition on their smartphones to complete the payment.

Meanwhile, credit card users can add their cards to their PayBy account in order to authorise transactions.

The platform recently partnered with TAMM, Abu Dhabi government’s digital ecosystem, to facilitate contactless payment for all government services through its Abu Dhabi Pay (AD Pay) platform.

PayBy will also distribute limited-time payment vouchers to users on the app, which can be used to pay the fare

Additionally, taxi drivers will be provided with payment success incentives to promote cashless payments.
