Napoli failed to narrow the gap to Juventus at the top of Serie A, after drawing 1-1 at Fiorentina. The hosts went ahead on six minutes after Marcos Alonso glanced in a header from a corner. However, straight after the restart Alonso made a poor clearance, allowing Gonzalo Higuian to fire home. Fiorentina had the better of the chances throughout the rest of the game, hitting the bar twice, but Napoli could have win it late on through the unmarked Lorenzo Insigne, who saw his shot saved by the impressive Viola ‘keeper, Ciprian Tatarusanu. The result leaves Maurizio Sarri’s men in second place on 58 points, three adrift of the champions, whilst Fior remain in fourth, level on 53 points with Roma, who they play on Friday.
