World number one Serena Williams will lock horns with fifth seed Maria Sharapova in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. The pair advanced to the last-eight with straight-sets wins, but in contrasting style. Defending champion Williams cruised past the unseeded Margarita Gasparyan 6-2, 6-1 in 55 minutes while Sharapova overcame 12th seed Belinda Bencic 7-5, 7-5. Sharapova has failed to beat Williams in 17 successive matches over the last 12 years, including last year's final at Melbourne Park. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Agnieszka Radwanska are among the big names in action later.
