Rumesh Ratnayake has been named Sri Lanka's interim coach for their upcoming home series against New Zealand.
The fast bowler temporarily takes the place of Chandika Hathurusingha, who is under pressure after a string of poor results including a group-stage exit at the World Cup.
"We've been watching the coach's performance for over a year-and-a-half," said Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva in a statement.
"Based on that, we've taken this decision."
Sri Lanka and New Zealand play each other in a three-Test series that gets underway on August 14 at Galle.
