Lando Norris took pole position for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in a McLaren one-two with Oscar Piastri ahead of a race that could secure the team's first Formula One constructors' championship since 1998.
Title rivals Ferrari had Carlos Sainz qualify third on Saturday with Charles Leclerc 14th on the timesheets before a 10 place grid penalty is added to his time for Sunday's race.
McLaren are 21 points clear of the Italian team.
Seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton qualified only 18th for his last race for Mercedes before switching to Ferrari. The Briton was unlucky after a broken plastic bollard was wedged under his car.
