It was a busy day in the transfer market yesterday, as the windows shut across most of Europe’s major leagues. David de Gea’s move from Manchester United to Real Madrid fell through, apparently because the paper work wasn’t submitted in time. A couple of players did leave Old Trafford, however, Adnan Janujaz joined Borussia Dortmund on loan and Javier Hernandez went to Bayer Leverkusen. Elsewhere in Germany, Wolfsburg spent AED 144 million on Julian Draxler from Schalke, and also brought in Brazilian defender Dante from Bayern Munich. Those transfers were funded mostly by Kevin de Bruyne’s move to Man City earlier in the week, but also by Ivan Perisic’s switch to Internazionale, who in turn sold Brazilian midfielder Hernanes to rivals Juventus. Meanwhile, the transfer window in the UK closes shortly, with Man United looking to tie up a deal for 19-year-old striker Anthony Martial from Monaco.
