Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe powered to victory in stage two of the UAE Tour, winning the time trial and taking the leader’s jersey.
The 26-year-old Belgian clocked a blistering 13 minutes and three seconds over the 12.2-kilometre course on Abu Dhabi’s Hudayriyat Island.
Welsh rider Josh Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers) was four seconds back, with France’s Rémi Cavagna (Groupama-FDJ United) 12 seconds off the pace in third.
It’s Evenepoel’s sixth win in 10 race days this season, not including his overall victory at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.
Stage one winner Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) surrendered the red jersey, finishing 42 seconds behind Evenepoel, and 27th on the day.
