Tiger Woods has undergone back surgery, meaning he won’t be in action again this year. The 14-time major champion had a small disc fragment, which was pinching a nerve, removed. It’s the second time in 18 months that the American has had work done on his back, with surgery on a pinched nerve keeping him out of action for three months last year. The American, whose last major victory came at the US Open in 2008, is hoping to return to the sport in early 2016. In a statement on his website, Woods thanked fans for their support and said he believed he’ll make a full recovery.
