Arsenal have sacked manager Unai Emery after just eighteen months in charge of the Premier League club.

The decision was reportedly made by the club's board after a winless run of seven matches.

Freddie Ljungberg will take over as interim coach, the Premier League club announced on Friday.

"We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward," the statement from Arsenal read.

"The search for a new head coach is under way and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete."

The Spaniard took over from Arsene Wenger in the summer of 2018 and led them to the Europa League final last season.
