In what could be a serious blow to Paris Saint-Germain’s chances to advance in the Champions League, reports suggest Neymar could be a serious doubt for their second leg match against Bayern Munich.

Neymar was carried off after he injured his ankle in PSG’s 4-3 Ligue 1 comeback victory against Lille.

Earlier, the Brazil winger contributed to the scoreline by netting the second goal for the French champions, however, he hurt his ankle following a contact with Lille's Benjamin Andre on 51 minutes at the Parc des Princes. Neymar damaged the same ankle at the World Cup in Qatar.

According to a report from Le Parisien, initial tests done on Neymar’s ankle have revealed a partial tear of the ligaments of his right ankle. He’s expected to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks.

PSG face an uphill task to reach the next round of the Champions League knockout stages after falling to a 1-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich in the round of 16 on Tuesday. The return leg in Munich is scheduled for March 8.

The forward has been on the receiving end of sharp criticism for a perceived lack of commitment after French media reported that he attended a poker tournament and dined at a fast-food restaurant after this past week's Champions League defeat. PSG head coach Christophe Galtier later defended Neymar and said that he had spoken to the player regarding the news.
