The Natural History Museum in Abu Dhabi has launched an online campaign to name two of its "extraordinary giants" - the Blue Whale and the T.Rex.
The names must be inspired by "Abu Dhabi, the UAE, or the broader Arabian Peninsula", the museum outlined, adding that the names must be meaningful even when translated into Arabic or English.
The 25-metre long Blue Whale is a female mammal found off the coast of Canada's Nova Scotia in 2021 after a suspected ship strike, while the T.Rex stretches 9–10 metres with remarkably intact bones and teeth, and dates back 66 to 68 million years to the Late Cretaceous Period.
The two winning names will be displayed permanently alongside the specimens.
The submission for the online campaign is open till October 25 on the museum's official website, and the names will be announced on November 2.
