UAE citizens and residents can now obtain an International Driving Permit in as little as five minutes at Dubai International Airport.
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority, the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club, and Amer, has launched an instant IDP service at the Customer Happiness Centre in the Terminal 3 Arrivals area.
The service is available to UAE citizens and residents with a valid UAE driving licence, and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Applicants need only their Emirates ID, valid UAE driving licence, passport copy and a personal photograph.
The required details are verified digitally, allowing the permit to be issued instantly.
The initiative is designed to simplify procedures and provide travellers with a convenient service at a key point in their journey, particularly during the pre-travel stage.
Major General Khalaf Ahmed Al Ghaith, Assistant Director-General for Entry Permits and Residency, said the service reflects Dubai’s focus on integrated, smart government services that make travel easier and improve the customer experience.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency at the RTA, described the initiative as an example of effective cooperation between government and strategic partners, bringing faster, more convenient services directly to travellers.
The launch further supports Dubai’s reputation for efficient, digitally enabled government services and its commitment to enhancing quality of life.
