US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Sunday as Washington continued efforts to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
The pair travelled to the Ukrainian capital after holding three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday, which did not appear to produce a breakthrough.
The Kremlin said the US envoys put forward a number of ideas on possible routes towards a settlement during what it described as frank and constructive discussions. No breakthrough was announced following the meeting.
A White House official said the two sides discussed substantive plans for the next steps, with further details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Kyiv meeting marks Kushner and Witkoff's first visit to Ukraine in their roles as US negotiators, although they have travelled to Moscow several times for talks with Putin.
Zelenskyy said ahead of the meeting that Ukraine had prepared its proposals and was seeking security guarantees and what he described as a "dignified post-war peace".
British, French and German national security advisers were also in Kyiv on Sunday, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Washington had a new proposal aimed at ending the conflict, although he did not provide details.
Previous US-mediated negotiations have failed to resolve significant differences between Moscow and Kyiv, including over territory and the security guarantees sought by Ukraine.
Russia and Ukraine have temporarily halted strikes on each other's capitals during the latest diplomatic efforts, although fighting and strikes have continued elsewhere.
