Thousands defy police ban, rally in Hong Kong

Hong Kong police fired tear gas at protesters on Sunday as thousands gathered outside a police station in Sham Shui Po to defy a police ban on marches.

This comes after leader Carrie Lam warned she would grant no concessions to the demonstrators.

Thousands of activists also occupied the airport arrivals hall for a third day, while others gathered at city parks.

The protest movement, which began in response to a controversial extradition law, has gained momentum over the last three months.
