The Arab League and Arab Parliament have condemned the Israeli forces’ storming of the UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem.
Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stated that the occupations justifications were unlawful, adding that the attack was targeted at ending UNRWA’s presence and operations in the occupied territory.
President of the Arab Parliament Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Yammahi also condemned Israel's actions, describing it as a blatant assault and a violation of international law.
Al Yammahi urged the international community to take decisive measures and protect the premises of international organisations and their staff, holding the occupation responsible for the escalation and its consequences.
Meanwhile, Aboul Gheit requested for countries to intervene and stop attacks on the agency, which provides services to millions of Palestinian refugees, noting the recent United Nations decision to renew its mandate for three years.
