Madonna arrives almost three hours late on stage in Brisbane

Madonna angered fans after appearing on stage at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night (16.03.16) almost three hours late. The 57-year-old singer's latest Australian 'Rebel Heart Tour' concert was due to start at 9pm but she didn't walk out until 11.22pm and joked she was "hardly ever late" and claimed the delay was caused by an unspecified "problem". Madonna told her fans: "It's you people that get here early that's the problem. Stay home, do your hair and makeup, have a drink. "Just come late and I won't have to come early. We've got three more shows and we want to fix the problem." Tour promoters Live Nation have now released a statement warning gig goers her second Brisbane on Thursday (17.03.16) could also be delayed. The statement read: "Following a late start last night, fans should note, the timing for tonight's performance may also be delayed. "We encourage concert goers to keep this in consideration when making arrangements to get home safely." It was reported that some attendees, who had been informed Madonna would start her performance at 10:30pm, couldn't stay for the show to start as public transport in the outer suburb of Boondall - where the arena is - stopped shortly after midnight and so they were given refunds. Madonna's late start is the latest incident to occur on her tour of Australia and New Zealand - her first trip Down Under for 23 years. The 'Material Girl' singer has been criticised for apparently drinking alcohol on stage - something she has denied, claiming it is "acting" and part of her show - and she got emotional when she dedicated a song to her estranged son Rocco, 15, while performing a cabaret-style show at The Forum Theatre in Melbourne.
