Billionaire Elon Musk was booed by a crowd at the Punchline Comedy Club event in San Francisco after he was invited onstage by comedian Dave Chappelle.
"Technically, it was 90 per cent cheers & 10 per cent boos," Musk later tweeted, only to delete it. "Its almost as if I have offended SF's (San Francisco's) unhinged leftists... but nahh."
The original video, which captured the loud boos, was deleted from Twitter and the account suspended. However, other users have started to reshare it on the platform.
After calling him onstage, Chappelle tried to defuse the situation by joking: "Sounds like some of those people you fired".
But, when the boos didn't stop, he added: "all these people that are booing, I’m just pointing out the obvious — they have terrible seats in the stadium".
Reacting to the boos, Musk asked Chappelle, "you weren't expecting this were you?"
Musk has been facing criticism since his $44 billion takeover of Twitter for his views on content moderation, reinstating suspended accounts, and for laying off staff.
