The UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, has chaired a high-level coordination meeting in Dubai, bringing together global shipping leaders and maritime industry representatives to tackle ongoing challenges affecting regional supply chains.
The meeting, hosted by the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) at its headquarters, was attended by senior officials including PCFC Chairman Abdulla bin Damithan and Dubai Customs Director General Dr. Abdulla Busenad, alongside key figures from the logistics and maritime sectors.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Al Zeyoudi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to maintaining the smooth flow of trade and strengthening supply chain resilience through close collaboration and forward-looking solutions.
He said continued coordination among stakeholders reflects the country’s strong focus on partnerships and international cooperation to ensure the uninterrupted movement of essential goods.
He added that efforts are underway to expand alternative trade corridors and implement advanced customs systems, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a trusted global logistics hub.
For his part, Abdulla bin Damithan highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration, noting progress since the previous meeting in addressing regional challenges.
He pointed to improvements in alternative routes, including Fujairah and Khorfakkan ports, and enhanced regional connectivity to support efficient cargo movement.
Dr. Busenad also outlined a series of customs initiatives aimed at facilitating trade and boosting efficiency. These include new measures to streamline transit cargo procedures, expanded use of green corridors, and pilot projects such as the Advance Cargo Information system and a new maritime feeder service linking the region with India.
He added that further initiatives are in progress, including extending re-export grace periods, expanding secure land transport corridors, and strengthening links with neighbouring countries.
The meeting also reviewed recent developments, including improved handling of critical shipments and the wider use of multimodal transport solutions, as the UAE continues efforts to enhance supply chain resilience and support global trade stability.
