The UAE is looking to strengthen trade and investment ties with Canada following a visit to Toronto by Minister of Foreign Trade Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
Leading a government and business delegation, Al Zeyoudi co-chaired a UAE-Canada business roundtable with Canada's Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, bringing together senior business leaders to explore opportunities in clean energy, technology, financial services, manufacturing and agri-food.
The visit follows the successful conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), as the two countries seek to expand commercial cooperation and investment.
Economic ties between the UAE and Canada continue to strengthen, with bilateral non-oil trade reaching US$4.2 billion in 2025, up 21 per cent on the previous year.
During the visit, Al Zeyoudi also met executives from the Royal Bank of Canada and visited the Vector Institute to discuss collaboration in artificial intelligence, innovation and the commercialisation of AI technologies.
