Al Ain stun River Plate in FIFA Club World Cup

Al Ain FC have shocked South American champions River Plate to reach the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The UAE champions overcame the Argentine giants 5-4 on penalties after the match ended 2-2 following extra-time.

An own goal from Javier Pinola had put Al Ain in the lead after just three minutes, but River soon hit back thanks to a double from Rafael Santos Borré.

Caio Lucas Fernandes then levelled matters in the 51st minute before Al Ain goalkeeper Khalid Eisa once again proved himself to be the shootout hero, saving the decisive penalty.

Al Ain will now play either Real Madrid or Kashima Antlers in Saturday's showpiece in Abu Dhabi.
