Saudi Air Defence Force shoot down Houthi missile

The Royal Saudi Air Defence Force (RSADF) intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi militias towards the southern Najran city on Thursday.

According to national news agency WAM, the rebels deliberately targeted heavily-populated areas but the missile was destroyed mid-air and there were no casualties in the attack.

In a statement, the spokesman of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition said that the missile was launched from Amran governorate in northwest Yemen.

Col. Turki bin Saleh al-Maliki added that the hostile act is yet another example of the Iranian-backed Houthi militias acquiring weapons in breach of UN Security Council resolutions.

He also urged the international community to adopt effective measures to halt the supply of arms to the terrorist groups.
