More than 70% of young Emiratis across the UAE prefer acquiring jobs in the government sector.
That’s according to His Highness Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who spoke at the World Government Summit in Dubai today.
A recent survey, covering more than 1,200 citizens aged between 17 and 25, shows that less than 10% aspire to work in the private sector.
Sheikh Abdullah also shared that only less than 14% are interested in setting up their own businesses.
Speaking through a translator, His Highness explains why the young nationals prefer government jobs.
He revealed that researchers predict that 65% of the children enrolled in elementary school this year may not find job opportunities by the time they graduate.
Sheikh Abdullah clarifies that this is as a result of the incresing integration of artificial intelligence within societies.
His Highness urges young nationals to strive for more in order to stand out in a competitive market.
