The second seed took just an hour and 47 minutes to secure a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory.
He'll now face Stefanos Tsitsipas, who overcame Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets.
Meanwhile, in the ladies draw, Petra Kvitová was equally as dominant in seeing off local favourite Ashleigh Barty 6-1, 6-4.
