Death toll from Mexican pipeline explosion rises

The death toll from a pipeline explosion in Mexico has risen to 96.

Friday's blast occurred as hundreds of people in the state of Hidalgo had gathered to collect gasoline from the leaking line, which had been ruptured by thieves.

Local authorities say another 48 people are continuing to receive treatment for injuries.

The area in Central Mexico has been hard-hit by gasoline shortages following a crackdown on fuel theft by the country's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
