UAE plans new measures to tackle cheque fraud

The UAE is taking further steps to tackle the circulation of counterfeit cheques in the banking sector.

Measures include the use of enhanced encryption technology and QR codes to improve security.

An automated cheque validation process is also being introduced by the UAE Banks Federation (UBF).

In addition to combating fraud, the changes are expected to improve operational efficiency and help reduce costs.

The UBF has been holding workshops to brief banks about the latest developments.
