Current US government shutdown now longest one ever

The ongoing partial government shutdown in the USA is now the longest ever on record.

It has now reached 22 days, surpassing the previous record which took place in 1995-96 under Bill Clinton.

US President Donald Trump wants the new national budget to include funding for a wall on the Mexican border.

His administration wants $USD 5.7 billion (AED 21 billion) for it.

Democrats have repeatedly rejected his request.
