Audi CEO arrested in Germany over diesel scandal

The head of German carmaker Audi, Rupert Stadler, has been detained in relation to the emissions test cheating scandal.

Munich prosecutors said the decision was taken because they feared Stadler might hinder the ongoing investigation.

Luxury carmaker Audi has been accused of selling at least 210,000 diesel-engine cars in the US and Europe fitted with "defeat devices" designed to cheat emissions tests.

Stadler has denied any involvement.
